FOCUS Mentorship Program

FOCUS is a structured mentorship program designed to offer first generation and/or first and second year students of color (African American/Black, Arab American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic American, Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native, and Biracial/Multiracial) the opportunity to develop relationships with NYU Alumni, Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students or other professionals who can serve as resources and/or advocates through establishing an ongoing mentoring relationship. -ISM Project

The –ISM Project, provides a venue for students to critically examine the complex ways

“–isms” permeate their lives, especially in regards to diversity and intolerance.


Nia Awards

The Nia Awards Ceremony honors the achievements of undergraduate and graduate students of color from across the University in the spring.


Binary Solution LSAT Prep

Binary Solution, an LSAT prep program, seeks to increase the number of exceptionally qualified students of color applying to and entering law school through an intensive deconstruction of the LSAT exam. Scholarships are also offered for their prep courses.


Creative Solutions Faculty/Grad Dinner Series

The Creative Solutions Faculty/Graduate Student of Color Dinner Series allows for

informal conversations between faculty and grad students of color over dinner.


Network for B.L.A.C.K. Men

The Network is dedicated to Building Leaders through Action, Community and Kinship for Black and African American men. The goals of NBM offers members opportunities to meet, make connections, and establish friendships across students, faculty and university professionals. The Network also provides unique mentoring opportunities with professionals and community leaders from the private and public sectors.

 

MLK Celebration Week

The NYU community commemorates Dr. King’s visit and his leadership with a weeklong series of events and programs: January 19-24, 2009.

 

NYU Portraits

This exciting Marquee Welcome Week event showcases powerful, thought-provoking speakers with an array of exceptional student dance, vocal, and instrumental performances by NYU students, faculty and alumni.
